Can I connect the Supaheat – Indoor Room Heater directly to an LPG bottle?

The heater comes with a bayonet fitting, we do not supply a hose to a POL fitting.

Below are some reasons explaining why the Superheat 2 LPG heater cannot be directly connected to a 9kg LPG bottle.

These explanations come directly from the Instruction Manual. The heater has been approved and certified according to the installation instructions and so must be installed accordingly.

  1. As per page 4, “This appliance must not be connected directly to a gas cylinder”.
  2. As per page 4, “NOT TO BE CONNECTED TO AN LPG GAS CYLINDER LOCATED INDOORS.”
  3. As per page 4, “NOTE: The hose assembly inlet (male bayonet) on this heater MUST BE connected only to a certified approved female floor socket rated to 7kPa”.
  4. As per page 2, “Room volume must be a minimum of 105 cubic metres (Note: this is typically a room size of approx. 8m x 6m x 2.4m ceiling height)”.
  5. The connection that they come fitted with is a bayonet fitting to go into a wall that has the specific connection. These permanent fittings in the wall are installed by a gas fitter who knows the corresponding standards as to where they are allowed.

For example, they cannot be installed in bedrooms or residential garages as explained on the NSW Government Fair Trading website: https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/trades-and-businesses/construction-and-trade-essentials/gasfitters/gas-standards-and-notes/location-of-connection-point-for-gas-hose-assembly

Why are parts of the heater are melting?

This would be caused by covering the heater with something like clothes if trying to dry washing. It should not be covered by anything. This is a misuse of the product which voids the warranty.

Why is there a gas smell when burning?

You should not leave unit alight when the house is unoccupied. Turn off immediately and ventilate the room. Get the heater serviced by a technician or return the heater is it is within warranty. If it’s a funny smell for the first use of the season, clean the heater of dust before use and ventilate the room for the first couple of hours of burning.

Which states do not allow flueless gas heaters?

Flueless gas heaters are illegal in SA, VIC and TAS. They are safe to use in other states provided the installation and use of the product are followed as per the instruction manual.

Approx. how long does the LPG version burn on 1 x 45kg cylinder?

100hrs on high. 200 hrs on low.

Can I install the Supaheat – Indoor Room Heater in a bedroom, bathroom, hallway or caravan?

No.

What’s the difference between a flueless gas heater and a flued gas heater?

A flueless gas heater releases combustion gases and water vapour directly into the home. They are more energy efficient and cost less to purchase and install than flued gas heaters.

What is the longest hose allowed when installing the Supaheat – Indoor Room Heater?

The longest hose allowed by Aus law is 3m. 10HEV3000 is our compatible 3m hose.

Do you manufacture or sell longer pigtails?

No. The longest we make is 600mm. This is the longest hose that is allowed to be installed according to Australian Standards.
